“Geospatial data play an important role in our society. GIS skills are applicable in a wide variety of fields that rely on mapping, data visualization and data science. WVU offers a variety of classes for becoming a well-rounded GIS professional and developing skills associated with GIS applications, digital cartography, data management, programming, and spatial analysis.”

Dr Maxwell’s research interests are in geospatial instruction, hands-on learning, and learning via travel. His primary research is in remote sensing image analysis, spatial modeling, GIS, object-based image analysis, terrain analysis, physical geography, geomorphology, and hydrology.
