GIS and Spatial Analysis

Student Stories

Hear from current and former students about how their experiences in our GIS program and read more testimonials from all our online programs.

I would encourage anyone considering this program to take it. GIS is an extremely useful, versatile tool and can be applied to almost any industry. GIS is a great way to analyze data and having that experience on your resume makes you a more attractive candidate. The GIS certificate program diversifies my experiences and makes my resume more complete. Also, the nature of WVU’s program allows for self-paced flexibility.

What I loved most about the program were my professors and other faculty. The professors challenged us but were there for help when we needed it. Classes were both fun and at times challenging, but at the end of the day, the final deliverable was incredibly rewarding. GIS opens the door to so many possibilities. It led me to a dream job with a dream team with the State Office of Broadband developing broadband for our Mountain State.

I found the classes to be fascinating and could see all the potential that this program has. You learn a lot of skills that you will actually use in your career and it opens you up to so many new professional connections. I am so glad that I took the additional courses to receive my certificate. That has been the star feature on my resume when applying to jobs.It is never overlooked by the employers!

Don’t miss this great opportunity to learn and improve your resume! The skills you will develop are relevant to many disciplines. In fact, these GIS skills will likely become proficiencies that you regularly employ. I’m grateful WVU provides this tract and hope others will consider taking advantage of it as well.
